My Version: Amiria Grenell.

New

My Version chats to stars and people of influence to give a glimpse into their time as a teen and see the things they are currently obsessed with!

Say hello to Kiwi songstress, Amiria Grenell, who has just released her new album, The Winter Light.

Obsessed RN.

Currently bingeing:

FRIENDS re-runs!

Song on repeat:

TAUA by NZ singer Ma.

Favourite Insta account to follow:

Georgia Lines - she makes awesome behind the scenes videos of when she’s on tour or making music video’s and they’re hilarious & wonderful!

Must have beauty product:

Sun Wind Sea Serum by Wellington Apothecary - it cures all!

The item of clothing I’m definitely over wearing:

Hand me down Brown oversized jacket from my friend Sam, I LOVE IT.

Currently reading:

The Moon Sister by Lucinda Riley. I’m nearly at the end of the series which makes me sad - such a wonderful series to read, she takes the reader all around the world with the stories of the different sisters.

Snacking on:

Homemade peanut butter and chocolate cookies.

Can’t stop watching on TikTok:

oooops, I don’t have tiktok!

Dreaming of:

Fresh autumn walks and the leaves changing colour.

Next place on the list to travel to:

I would love to go to Canada one day, to go to some music festivals there and adventure into the incredible landscape.

I’m currently inspired by:

The theme of slowing down. I feel like I’ve been packing far too much in for far too long!

My favourite way to relax is:

Reading my book, with my cat beside me, a cup of rooibos chai tea with oat milk & some squares of good dark chocolate.

I stay healthy by:

After I get up in the morning I make a cup of lemon ginger tea and roll out my yoga mat. I then have my own wee yoga sequence I have been practising for years. Then I’m off walking my dog up the hills surrounding the valley I live in, or around the horse paddocks nearby. These two rituals are key to starting my day right.

When I was younger…

One thing I love about Gen-Z is:

Not overthinking everything so much.

If I could give my teenage self one bit of advice, what would it be:

Make more travel plans with your friends, go on more road trips, swim more, read more books.

My favourite part of being a teenager was:

Having more time for songwriting, sewing and being creative.

My first job was:

Check out chick at New World. I was saving up to get extension braids in my hair.

My dream job as a teen was:

To become a musician.

Best piece of advice I ever received as a teen was:

Keep being creative and making art in all its forms… The world needs it.

My biggest fashion faux-pas was:

Wearing petticoats overtop of my trousers and wearing about 8 different necklaces at the same time.

My biggest inspiration was:

Female singer / songwriters. I would go out to live shows and become so inspired by the women I saw standing up on stage sharing their stories through song.
