My Version chats to stars and people of influence to give a glimpse into their time as a teen and see the things they are currently obsessed with!

This New Zealand Music Month, we are celebrating by profiling some amazing wahine in the music industry!

Say hello to Kiwi songstress, Paige, who is nominated for Best Pop Artist and Album of the Year for King Clown at the 2024 Aotearoa Music Awards.

Obsessed RN.

Kiwi musician/band that I’m loving:

Wells* will forever be my favourite kiwi artist.

I’ll be celebrating New Zealand Music Month (NZMM) by:

Sharing a song from a kiwi artist to my international friends/followers on social media every day of May.

NZMM is important to me because:

Truly some of the best music in there world comes out of New Zealand and I’m not sure if all kiwis know that, so it’s a great opportunity to share local music and have the whole of NZ realise MUSICIANS FROM AOTEAROA ARE COOL.

My favourite thing about the New Zealand music scene is:

The sense of community and support amongst fellow artists. We all know each other, we all collaborate and encourage each other to keep going!

Currently bingeing:

Baby Reindeer.

Song on repeat:

Title by Meg Donelly.

Favourite Insta account to follow:

Hailey Knox and Maimorningcrew hahaha.

Must have beauty product:

Giovanni Frizz-be-gone.

The item of clothing I’m definitely over wearing:

My boyfriends jeans he bought second hand that are 2 sizes too big for me.

Currently reading:

Google reviews of Auckland hops stores for my own pleasure

Snacking on:

Sour skittles and twix pods.

Can’t stop watching on TikTok:

Lance Savali dance videos and I always watch videos of people singing/producing and promoting their music. I found two artists, Nya and Olorunns and they’re really cool.

Dreaming of:

Being able to write / produce music with artists in the U.S.

Next place on the list to travel to:

New York / LA

I’m currently inspired by:

Jujulipps.

My favourite way to relax is:

Watch Friends and eat sour skittles.

I stay healthy by:

Journalling walking and singing.

When I was younger…

One thing I love about Gen-Z is:

They’re fearless.

If I could give my teenage self one bit of advice, what would it be:

Missing the parties and working on your music and yourself will be worth it.

My favourite part of being a teenager was:

Having more time to be creative and having less worries.

My first job was:

Clarks Beach takeaway shop. Hated it lol.

My dream job as a teen was:

Pop star.

Best piece of advice I ever received as a teen was:

Nobody’s paying attention or worrying about the mistakes you make nearly as much as you do, they’re too busy worrying about themselves, So wear it, sing it, do it.

My biggest fashion faux-pas was:

Wearing a long winter jacket just below the waist with tights and converses? I think I was trying to be Bella Swan.

My biggest inspiration was:

Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus.

My fave Kiwi musician/band when I was a teen was:

Lorde and Adeaze.

You can follow Paige on Instagram and listen to her new music on Spotify. The 2024 Aotearoa Music Awards take place on 30 May at the Viaduct Events Centre.
