My Version: Jude Kelly.

New

My Version chats to stars and people of influence to give a glimpse into their time as a teen and see the things they are currently obsessed with!

Say hello to Kiwi artist & songwriter, Jude Kelly, who has just released her debut EP, The Seven Spirits of Her.

Obsessed RN.

Currently bingeing:

Completely hooked on ‘The Last of Us’.

Song on repeat:

‘Little Trouble’ by Better Oblivion Community Center. A duo made up of Phoebe Bridges and Connor Oberst.

Favourite Insta account to follow:

Dazed, basically my source for news, art and culture.

Must have beauty product:

Going skin care route - Kielh’s Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque, so good for acne prone skin.

The item of clothing I’m definitely over wearing:

My New Rock Malicia M-9674-S1 boots with a steel heel, they’re like the sisterhood of the traveling boots. I got them from a friend who got them off a cool woman when she was travelling Europe. I’ll wear these with about anything.

Currently reading:

Just Kids by Patti Smith.

Snacking on:

Two things! Dark chocolate coated coffee beans and Cobs Sea Salt Popcorn.

Can’t stop watching on TikTok:

Gosh I don’t know, I get stuck in a loop with compilation videos of people endlessly slipping on ice. Whatever the TikTok version of ‘Funniest Home Videos’ is.

Dreaming of:

Owning a big dog.

Next place on the list to travel to:

Nashville.

I’m currently inspired by:

St Vincent and The Breeders.

My favourite way to relax is:

I am not too good at this, so I do things that I have to be present for - being with friends or taking myself out for coffee and writing.

I stay healthy by:

Listening to my body. Mental and physical go hand in hand. Each year I change up what I do physically - currently in my era of chill walks and dancing, being flexible with what food I consume  (if I want it, I'm going to have it) and most importantly, free writing and journaling most mornings before the chaos.

When I was younger…

One thing I love about Gen-Z is:

Gen-Z have this innate approach to just going for the things they want to do, it's incredibly open minded and this definitely is infectious for the gens above.

If I could give my teenage self one bit of advice, what would it be:

I guess through all the highs and lows of being a teenager (loads), you can’t avoid or predict anything, learn how to take space for yourself and how to make space for other people. Continue to be curious, kind and do not take things so seriously.

My favourite part of being a teenager was:

Being curious and having a ‘i probably can do that’ attitude.

My first job was:

Paper run!

My dream job as a teen was:

Architect.

My biggest fashion faux-pas was:

Look - when it comes to fashion, wear whatever you want. But keep the 2012 galaxy leggings away from me

Best piece of advice I ever received as a teen was:

Always make time for people.

My biggest inspiration was:

I think I was inspired by a lot of things growing up - not necessarily people, but I admired my Grandma a lot and still want to be like her.
